SurfAid's mission to support remote surf communities received a significant boost with the strategic implementation of Raisely's peer-to-peer fundraising platform.
Faced with the complex challenge of raising funds during a global pandemic — an era marked by economic downturns and increased poverty rates in Indonesia — SurfAid harnessed the power of Raisely's intuitive platform to motivate a global community of surfers into action.
The Make A Wave challenge, a 30-day surfing endeavour, was at the heart of this fundraising effort. It appealed to surfers worldwide, turning their passion for the waves into a force for good.
By leveraging Raisely's flexible fundraising tools, SurfAid was able to craft a campaign that not only captured the essence of their mission but also made it simple for supporters to participate and donate.
Without having a strong platform in Raisely our campaign wouldn’t have been possible. We built our campaign website internally and the support team at Raisely were invaluable at helping us to produce a functional and best practice page.

The results were incredible. In 2021, with over 1,200 surfers from 21 countries taking part, SurfAid smashed its fundraising targets, raising an unprecedented $739,000.
This success underlined the effectiveness of peer-to-peer campaigns in mobilising communities for a common cause, demonstrating Raisely's crucial role in enabling nonprofits to achieve their fundraising goals and broaden their impact.
SurfAid needed an effective way to raise funds for remote surf communities, targeting problems like healthcare accessibility and poverty, exacerbated by the economic shock of the pandemic.
Raisely provided a customisable peer-to-peer fundraising platform that tailored to SurfAid’s specific campaign goals. Its easy to use website builder empowered Surfaid to bring their brand to the forefront and create a narrative that resonated with global surfers.
